This spacious property is set on the promenade overlooking Tankerton Beach, a gently sloping shingle beach with pretty wooden huts and a grassy area just perfect for a picnic. The town’s main claim to fame is oysters, which are celebrated at a festival every July, and seafood can be enjoyed year-round at restaurants and pubs. Head to the outdoor market at the harbour or explore the area on your bike – the Crab and Winkle bike route leads through 10 miles of gentle countryside to Canterbury.

The owners of the property have spared no expense on the interiors, which are a mix of classic and contemporary. An Arts and Crafts entrance leads into a hallway, which in turn opens onto the elegant lounge with stripped floorboards, high ceilings and original decorative mouldings. A coal-effect gas fire will keep you cosy in winter and two three-seater sofas provide comfortable seating. French doors lead from here into the conservatory, which has a terracotta tile floor, a cane settee and doors to the rear garden. The kitchen also features a terracotta floor, a wood burner-effect gas fire and a long glass dining table with six chairs. A door from here leads to a cloakroom and two steps down lead to a bathroom with a travertine marble floor and a large double shower cubicle. One bedroom features a king-size bed and a window seat from which to enjoy the sea views, with binoculars and a telescope provided, and the other bedroom has a double bed as well as a window seat with sea views.

The garden features a walnut tree, prettily planted borders, and a patio with garden furniture.

Apartment was excellent with a great location. Would 100% recommend as location close enough to Whitstable without being in the middle of the town.
